From $0 - $165K in 8 months: How we did it

Over the last 8 months, We've scaled BoldSEO from $0 - $165K per month in revenue. I'm going to share exactly how we did it.

My backlink agency, Brightline Media was cruising along at about $50K per month and had become a great asset for me and my family. Around March 2023 I was ready for a new challenge and made plans to sell it.

On the day of closing (6/30/2023) the buyers had a problem -- they had no cash.

So I decided to team up with Nick Huber to create BoldSEO. Our goal is to create a $1M per month backlink and SEO agency. I sold Brightline to the new entity and we began hiring expert SEO talent.

A great agency has 4 key components:

  1. Leads
  2. Sales
  3. Delivery
  4. Customer Service

Luckily we're able to drive leads through audience and newsletters so we knew that wouldn't be the issue (and it hasn't been). We're averaging about 15-20 calls per week.

For sales, I hired my college's friend younger brother and a guy we had never met from X. Both of these guys are amazing at selling and communicating with their clients. I'm excited to keep coaching them and watching them develop into sales leaders.

The hardest (and most valuable) part of building BoldSEO has been building a proprietary backlink network. This means we don't have to rely on any 3rd party link service to provide effective backlinks for our clients. As we scale, vertical integration is a massive value add for clients and our enterprise value. Most agencies are just white-labeling other folks' services not building out the capability internally. We don't want to be like most agencies and even though hiring legit SEO talent isn't cheap, it's the way to win in the long run.

Customer communication is damn important. I always say business is 50% results and 50% communicating why those results are important. Our customer service process is unmatched:

  1. Custom portal with links and key metrics
  2. 2 person team fully dedicated to client comms
  3. Bi-weekly email update
  4. Detailed monthly report
  5. 90-day ramp-up period to ensure smooth onboarding
  6. Maximum transparency

If you want to see if you'd be a fit book a call.

Also, we're launching a programmatic SEO offer for local service businesses. We create 1000s of pages for location + service which helps skyrocket rankings and traffic. We're getting some amazing results here for the beta clients and are adding a few more. This will help you dominate your local market.

We're opening 2 spots only. Email reagan@boldseo.com with the subject: pSEO Offer.

For entrepreneurship to be worth it you need to make 2-3x the money you could at a job. Many will disagree with me, but frankly, I think it's a cope to justify their decision to hang their own shingle. I truly think many would be happier working for somebody else. Entrepreneurship culture glamorizes the good parts but doesn't touch the bad parts. When things are good you're on top of the world, but when things are bad it can feel all-consuming. There's a premium that makes dealing with the...
